I created this blog to discuss ideas about leadership, culture, innovation, social media and more. This is a chance to continue the conversation we’ve had on Twitter, and explore topics with a little more detail and depth.
Here’s some more about my background…
I grew up in DeForest, Wis., and learned a lot from my dad, Tom, who was the American Family Insurance agent in our hometown. I never thought one day I’d be CEO of his special company. In fact, growing up, I never intended to work for American Family. I went to Wartburg College in Iowa and earned degrees in biology and business administration.
After graduation, I was an analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, Mo. When I decided to move back home, I signed up with American Family as a health claims adjuster, starting down the path that led me to my current role as chairman and CEO of American Family.
I’m especially proud of my affiliation and work with the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation, United Way of Dane County, American Family Children’s Hospital and Board of Regents at Wartburg College.
